Open Water Swim Clinic

This one-hour, in-pool clinic is intended for beginning and intermediate level swimmers interested in refining their technique/form in freestyle and developing open water skills. After this clinic participants will have a clearer understanding of proper freestyle technique, drills to help develop better form and technique in the water and an introduction to open water swimming. The clinic will include a brief 5-minute discussion on deck, followed by an in-pool session reviewing the following:

  • Setting and attaining personal goals
  • Review of a solid freestyle stroke
  • Techniques and drills for developing a good freestyle stroke
  • Introduction to open water drills for triathletes and fitness swimmers, including sighting and treading water

Louise M. Hyder-Darlington was challenged by a friend to try swimming around the Statue of Liberty in 2013. This marked her first open water swim and hooked her on the open water life. Her goal is to swim the English Channel in August 2018.
